Oakland, CA

Creating a space for rest and romance was of most importance for this busy couple living in a 1940’s house in the Oakland hills. A gouache painting in subtle tones, became the centerpiece of our design, and we chose furniture, lighting and paint colors to soften and modernize the space. Our intent was to create more privacy and tranquility in this room, which gets a lot of bright sun. The window treatments, a lined wool felt, helped to further bring comfort and serenity into the space.
