Lakeshore Traditional, Oakland

Our client's home, a 1911 traditional, had charm and good bones but was ready for some modern touches. The kitchen, in particular, felt the weight of the years. The homeowner’s vision was a spacious kitchen, ample counter space, easy outdoor access, and a flow that connected the kitchen to both the family and dining rooms.

To achieve this, we adjusted the home's layout, moving walls and repositioning doors. These modifications allowed for custom details during the renovation. With the architectural changes, the highlight was the design and build of a completely new deck space, merging the indoors with the natural surroundings.

The kitchen now features a window opening to a zinc bar on the deck, with hand-painted tiles and leaded glass. Updates in the kitchen, powder room, and family room breathe new life into the space, all while honoring the original design and feel of the house.
