ASHMONT AVENUE RESIDENCE
This young family was seeking a distinctive and integrated update to the first floor of a their traditional Tudor home. The couple had divergent styles: the wife preferred traditional details, while the husband — a gourmet cook— opted for a modern style. To coalesce their tastes, we focused the design on functionality and comfort. Collaborating with the client’s architect, we knocked down walls to open up the kitchen and add an island, while modifying the entry to create a mudroom. The checkered marble floor in the entry echoes the Carrera marble used on the kitchen counters and backsplash. The kitchen hood, a major element in the space, was made of custom steel. We chose a whimsical wallpaper for the powder room and used polished blues and grays on the walls to complete the color scheme.
